Organisational structure

Regions
As NextGEN, we coordinate our work by organising ourselves as a network of autonomous Regions across Latin America (CASA Jóvenes), Oceania & Asia (NextGENOA), North America (NextGENNA), NextGEN Africa, and NextGEN Europe. In some cases the Regions are registered as their own legal entities.
The autonomy of each Region allows us to more fluidly and directly address our reality, (through projects, events, etc) sometimes through specific collaborations with our corresponding GEN Region or other external organisations and projects as we see fit.
Each Region has its own Holons (sometimes called Circles) normally focused directly on projects, networking, and events in the geographical area where they operate. Holons come and go as the needs they respond to arise and are met. Some examples are holons focused on branding, online presence, internal structure, education and fundraising.
While each Region operates independently mostmuch of the time, we are united as NextGEN by our youthful spirits, our love of the Ecovillage movement and a passion for creating a regenerative future.
Youth Council
In the center of it all is the NextGEN International Youth Council, made up of 2 representatives from each NextGEN Region (picked by the Regions). The Youth Council as the global steering circle of NextGEN is accountable to ensure strategic, organisational and financial cohesion and collaboration between all NextGEN Regional Groups and between NextGEN and GEN.
Decision Making
We are currently experimenting with Sociocracy 3.0 and other tools to support us in decision making, structural design, and overall more effectively collaborating. We are lucky enough to have professional facilitators, trainers, and consultants as part of our core teams on all levels of NextGEN.
